Venison at Seasons 52

The menu at Seasons 52 changes every quarter, with the seasons. There are only a few days left for the winter menu. We enjoyed the Grilled Venison Chop with Mushroom Ragout with truffle mashed potatoes. The New Zealand venison chop had a great flavor and was not too gamey. The sauce complimented the meat very well. The mushroom ragout and potatoes were excellent.

This delightful entree with the sides was $24.95. Venison is hard to find in Florida restaurants and is often more expensive. New Zealand venison is farm raised.

This dish is available for a few more days until their menu changes for the spring season.

We enjoyed our dinner at the Boca Raton location.

Outdoor Dining at Max’s Grille in Mizner Park

Max’s Grille in Boca Raton’s Mizner Park is a wonderful place for outdoor dining on a Saturday evening. The weather was warm but not too hot and humid as it sometimes is at this time of year. This establishment gets a lot of diners year round and is a great place for people watching at Mizner Park. We enjoyed nice wine with our meal from the half-priced selection. The shrimp bisque was an excellent starter. The Yellowtail snapper was very fresh and served with baby scallops and shrimp. This was among the best yellowtail snapper we have eaten. The Yellowtail Snapper is priced at $25 and well worth it. Crab Cakes were also excellent.

Max’s Grille has a wide variety of food and wine. You may enjoy full entrees, sandwiches or tapas. Max’ Grille now serves breakfast.

On Friday, from 11:30am to 4:00 pm, $5 hamburgers are available.

Don Ramon Cuban Cuisine on Clematis Street in West Palm Beach

During Sunfest, we strolled over to Clematis Street and enjoyed dinner at Don Ramon Cuban Restaurant. After a twenty minute wait for a table, we enjoyed the upstairs seating with a view overlooking the center of the restaurant, the bar and Clematis Street. Tables were far apart. We enjoyed the spacious feeling even though the restaurant was operating at full capacity.

We enjoyed the Cuba Libre (Rum and Coke) at happy hour prices. Bother entrees were served with beans, rice and plantains. For entrees we enjoyed the Lechon Asado (Roast Pork) and the Pollo a la Juliana. Both entrees were excellent and very fresh tasting. The Pollo a la Juliana consisted of boneless chicken breast Cut Into Julianne strips, marinated, then grilled with green and red bell peppers and onions. The roast pork was slow cooked, marinated in the restaurant’s special mojo sauce, pulled and lightly grilled with sauteed Onions. Each of our entrees was $10.95.
For desert we shared the flan and enjoyed cuban coffee. The flan was exceptionally good, not to dense.
Don Ramon Cuban Cuisine offers excellent dining with large portions and great service on Clematis Street at a reasonable price.

You feel welcome when you go to Applebee’s restaurants. There are many locations nationwide. It is a geared to all ages and accommodating to families and large groups with a casual atomosphere. They now have the Carside to Go orders which is very convenient when you are in a hurry. There is a bar with daily happy hour specials. They regularly advertise their 2 for $20 dinner specials and also offer several dinners for 550 calories and under. I was there with a friend for dinner on a Wednesday night around 7:30pm at the Delray Beach location and waited only a few minutes for a table. It was still busy at that time. The hostess was friendly and the waitress was as well. Looking through the menu, everything looked good! The menu changes every season with new dishes. It was a tough choice.

We shared a spinach dip appetizer. We both had iced tea to drink and got a chicken and shrimp dinner platter. It was brought out hot and delicious tasting! Afterwards, we shared a black cake and ice cream dessert. All and all, it was a nice dinner for a reasonable price. The atmosphere was not too noisy and I did not feel cramped. I have been there before for lunch and had salads. This time for dinner I was able to try one of their popular dishes. Looking forward to trying others when I return.

P.F. Chang’s Lunch Bowls

From 12:00pm to 4:00pm every day, P.F. Chang’s offers Lunch Bowls on their menu. You may choose from a variety of chicken, beef, shrimp, fish or vegetarian dishes. Each lunch bowl is severed with a choice of brown or white rice, and egg drop or hot and sour soup. Today we had Sesame Chicken and Pepper Steak. The Sesame Chicken was excellent. It consisted of stir-fried chicken, broccoli, red peppers, onions and ginger in a sesame sauce. This lunch bowl item was $8.50. We also had Pepper Steak which was excellent. It consisted of quickly cooked steak with red and green bell peppers, yellow onions, garlic and black pepper for $9.50.

After our main dish, we enjoyed the mini desserts, chocolate cake with berry sauce and a cheese cake for $2.25 each.

We had a pot of a very tasty sweet ginger-peach tea with our meal, $2.50 for the two of us.

In addition to the Lunch Bowl items, other great deals are the Happy Hour specials from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Discounted small plates and drinks are served.

We dined from 3:00 to 3:45 pm and there were plenty of people in the restaurant. According to our waitress, during the dinner hour there is a long wait for those without a reservation.

Piñon Grill of Boca Raton New Review

We last visited Piñon Grill in December. We returned yesterday, March 26, 2011, and had the prime hambuger with white cheddar cheese. This was one of the best hamburgers served on a delcious roll with tomato, shredded cabbage and pickles, and a side of shoestring fries. The ice tea was fresh. The two hamburgers, one iced tea and shoestring fries came to $30 with tax and tip. This is one of the least expensive items on the menu.

This time, we sat outside on a beautiful Saturday. The outdoor patio is away from busy streets and near the new pedestrian area of the Town Center Mall.

Piñon Grill is open for both lunch and dinner. On Sunday, a brunch menu is offered until 2:30 pm.

Shanes Rib Shack in Boca Raton, Boynton Beach and Royal Palm Beach

Shane’s Rib Shack, a barbecue restaurant, recently opened in Boca Raton, Florida. Other Palm beach county locations are in Boynton Beach and Royal Palm Beach. The barbecue restaurantchain has locations throughout the United States.

We dined at the Boca Raton location twice during the last two months. Food is ordered at the counter as in fast food restaurants, but brought to your table when ready.

The smothered pork sandwich was servered on a roll and consisted of tasty tender pork and coleslaw. It was excellent as was the side of baked beans. The chicken BBQ chicken sandwich was also very good, but the first time we ordered it on a roll. The second time we substituted Texas Toast. Also the second time we order the the brisket sandwich on Texas toast and a side of coleslaw.

Service is fast and prices are reasonable. The chicken sandwich was $5.99. The pork and brisket sandwiches were $6.99. For the menu please visit shanesribshack.com.

Moe’s Southwest Grill Boca Raton Florida

We enjoyed lunch at Moe’s Southwest Grill in Boca Raton. At Moe’s you order at the counter and carry your food to the table. It is upscale fast food with the atmosphere and decor of a cantina. The ingredients are fresh and contain no trans fat. The restaurant has over 400 locations in more than thirty-five states.

For lunch we had the Homewrecker Burrito with steak, pinto beans, rice, cheese, pico de gallo, lettuce, cilantro, sour cream and guacamole; and the John Coctostan quesadilla with chicken, pinto beans and cheese. Chips and salsa were given free of charge. Both dishes were excellent and not too spicy. At the condiment bar, you have a choice of various types of salsa from mild to hot.

If you get added to Moe’s mailing list, you will receive specials by email. Today we used a birthday promotion of a free entree. Lunch for two was only $7.75.

Margarita’s Mexican Kitchen and Cantina Food and Drink Specials and Review

Margarita’s Mexican Kitchen and Cantina is located at Renaissance Commons in Boynton Beach, Florida. This restaurants is open for lunch and dinner. Happy Hour specials are available and there is nightly entertainment on weekends.

On January 7, 2010, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner. There is a wide variety of food available and our entrees were preceded by chips and salsa. The Taco dinner served with beans and rice, offers a choice of one to four tacos which can be mixed. We had a a two soft tacos, carne asada and duck. Both were excellent. The carne asada taco was made with tender and flavorful skirt steak. One of us enjoy the taco dinner with hard tacos and chicken. Each taco dinner with two tacos was $10.95. Sunday through Thursday from 4pm to 7pm, the happy hour taco dinner special consists of two chicken or beef tacos, rice, beans, chips, salsa and a lime margarita for $6.95.

Suzy Q’s Cafe at Abacoa in Jupiter, FL

On January 5, 2009, we had lunch at Suzy Q’s Cafe on Main Street in Abacoa. There was a sizable crowd for lunch. The is only open for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast and lunch can be ordered all day.

For lunch we had a tuna fish salad sandwich on toasted rye bread. The portion was generous. Tomatoes and lettuce were included on the sandwich. The white meat tuna was excellent and had only a little mayonnaise. Cole slaw was served on the side along with potato chips.

The restaurant has a variety of dishes including sandwiches, soup, salads, hamburgers, egg dishes, pancakes, French toast and smoked salmon.

Suzy Q’s Cafe has been open since April 15, 2010.

Business hours: Monday – Saturday 7 am to 2 pm, Saturday Sunday 8 am to 2 pm, and Sunday 8 am to 1:30 pm.
